Lucknow, Aug. 12 -- This year, the celebration of independence day also includes the colors of self-reliance for 30,000 rural women in Uttar Pradesh.
The tricolors hoisted across the state for Independence Day have become a major source of income for women from self-help groups.
Linking the "Tiranga in Every Home" campaign with rural livelihoods, the UP government has entrusted approximately 30,000 women from 6,000 women self-help groups with the responsibility of preparing two crore national flags.
Of these tricolors, 19 million have been completed.
They will now be distributed to every household through gram panchayats and other organizations.
