Tehran, July 30 -- Three members of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were killed in a US strike targeting the northwestern province of Zanjan early Thursday, according to Iran's Fars news agency.

The IRGC which has already announced that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed as long as US "threats" and "interference" with shipping in the region continue, described the attack as "brutal", while US Central Command (CENTCOM) said it had launched a "heavy wave" of strikes in response to what it described as attempted Iranian missile attacks on US forces in the Middle East.
