Akola/Mumbai, July 23 -- : Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) president Prakash Ambedkar on Thursday alleged that around 3,500 party workers were detained across Maharashtra ahead of the statewide bandh called by the outfit in protest against the Centre's education policies and the alleged police action on students and protesters in Delhi.

Addressing reporters, Ambedkar claimed the detentions were carried out even as those responsible for the alleged NEET paper leak remained untouched.

"Nearly 3,500 VBA workers have been detained. However, no action is being taken against those involved in the NEET paper leak. Police have been deployed in large numbers across the state. This is unfortunate," he said.
