Latur, March 10 -- A serious issue related to bounced cheques issued towards electricity bill payments has come to light in Latur district of Maharashtra. Several consumers had submitted cheques in an attempt to clear pending electricity dues or to gain time for payment, but many of these cheques failed to clear, affecting the recovery process of outstanding power bills, official sources said on Tuesday.
According to officials, during February 2026, a total of 98 cheques issued for electricity bill payments bounced due to financial or technical reasons.
