Washington, Aug. 4 -- A coalition of 25 Democratic-led US states sued President Donald Trump's administration on Monday, challenging a new round of global tariffs and arguing the president has once again exceeded his legal authority to impose sweeping import duties.
The lawsuit, filed in the US Court of International Trade, targets tariffs of between 10% and 12.5% imposed last month on imports from 60 trading partners. The administration said the measures were authorized under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974 following an investigation into overseas forced labour practices.
