Chennai, April 19 -- In one of the horrific tragedies in recent times, 21 workers were killed and eight others injured when an explosion ripped through a private cracker manufacturing at Kattanarpatti village in the southern Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu on Sunday evening.
The deceased included women.
When contacted by UNI, sources in State DGP police headquarters here confirmed that 21 people were killed in the tragedy and eight others were critically injured and were rushed to hospitals.
The blast was said to have been caused due to friction while mixing chemicals for making crackers. The friction would have caused due to scorching summer heat wave conditions prevailing in the district.
