Chennai, July 5 -- The Madras High Court has directed the Special Court trying cases against elected MPs and MLAs to complete the trial within 12 weeks, in the 2016 multi-crore gutkha scam linked to two former Tamil Nadu Ministers and top police officials.
Justice G K Ilanthiraiyan passed the order while dismissing a plea filed by former Chennai Police Commissioner S George challenging the Special Cour order rejecting his plea directing CBI to furnish copies of the statements of prosecution witnesses,The case stems from a CBI probe against 26 persons, including former AIADMK Ministers C Vijayabaskar and B.V.
