Chandigarh, Sept. 5 -- Haryana State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has ordered authorities to provide free tanker water to about 500 families at a Faridabad housing society until a regular supply is arranged, after residents complained they had been forced to depend on privately purchased water for years.

The SHRC has sought reports from the Faridabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner and the Chief Executive Officer of the Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority (FMDA) over the water supply at Achievers Society, also known as Kalindi Hill, in Sector 49. The reports must reach the commission at least a week before the next hearing, fixed for November 12.
