Itanagar, July 4 -- A mild earthquake measuring 2.8 on the Richter scale struck Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday evening, according to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) here.

The tremor occurred at 7:14:26 pm IST, with its epicentre located at 27.568degN latitude and 91.916degE longitude, at a shallow depth of 5 kilometres.

Official sources said there were no immediate reports of damage to property or casualties, and the district administration is monitoring the situation.

The latest tremor comes just two days after another mild earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale hit West Kameng district on Thursday evening.
