New Delhi, March 25 -- A sleeper tourist bus overturned near Hanuman Mandir, Karol Bagh, New Delhi, at around 1:05 AM on Wednesday, triggering a major rescue operation by Delhi Police.

A senior police official said that the Jaipur-Delhi bus, carrying around 30 passengers, flipped, leaving many trapped inside. Acting swiftly, a team of Karol Bagh Police Station, along with locals, used a JCB to lift and stabilise the bus and rescue passengers.

A total of 23 injured were shifted to hospitals -- 12 to Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital, where 2 men succumbed, 10 to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, and 1 to Lady Hardinge Medical College.
