Panchkula, Sept. 12 -- A museum chronicling the 1857 uprising and the sacrifices of its lesser-known freedom fighters is nearing completion at the First War of Independence Martyrs' Memorial being built along the Ambala-Delhi National Highway in Ambala Cantonment, Haryana Minister Anil Vij said on Saturday.

Vij, who holds the Energy, Transport and Labour portfolios, inspected the memorial and directed officials to complete the remaining works and upgrades.

He said the museum galleries had been arranged in a sequence designed to take visitors through the events of the 1857 uprising as a continuous story.
