Kolhapur, June 26 -- The 152nd Rajarshi Shree Shahu Maharaj Jayanti, a legendary king and social reformer, was celebrated today in a festive manner in all parts of the city.
The main official function of Shahu Jayanti was held this morning at the birth place of Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj at 'Laxmi-Vilas' palace, situated at Kasba-Bavda, a suburb of the city.
State Minister Prakash Aabitkar, who is also district guardian minister, garlanded the portrait of Shahu Maharaj, with flowers.
Later Abitkar also garlanded a life size statue of Shahu Maharaj at the historic Dasara Chowk and greeted 'Lokraja' Chhatrapati Shahu.
He also inaugurated an exhibition of rare and historical documents, and photographs of Shree Shahu Maharaj.
