Jaipur, July 28 -- In cheering news on the eve of International Tiger Day, around 150 tigers roar and prowl freely in the jungles in Rajasthan, while 15 are leading safe and cared-well for captive lives in the Nahargarh safari-cum-biological park here.
According to Wildlife Department sources, a total of 152 big cats (tigers, tigresses and cubs) have been living in the wild and 15 in captivity, which takes the number to 167.
The world famous Ranthambore National Park houses 70 to 72 (in Ranthambore I and Ranthambore II), the relocated abode Sariska sanctuary has 56, Mukundra Hills-Harauti (seven), neighbouring Ramgarh Vishdhari (eight) and Dholpur-Karauli reserve (11), the sources said.
