Shimla, Sept. 13 -- As many as 15,751 cases were disposed of and more than Rs 25.59 crore recovered during the National Lok Adalat held across judicial complexes in Shimla district.

A spokesperson said on Sunday, that the Lok Adalat was organised at Shimla, Theog, Rohru, Jubbal and Chopal on Saturday to facilitate speedy disposal of pending court cases and pre-litigation matters.

At the district judicial complex in Shimla, the proceedings were held under the chairmanship of District and Sessions Judge and District Legal Services Authority Chairman Bhuvnesh Awasthi.

District Legal Services Authority Secretary Umesh Verma said a total of 18,150 cases were taken up for hearing across the district, of which 15,751 were disposed of.
