Mumbai, May 31 -- Police arrested 13 cricket bookies during a midnight raid at a farmhouse in Wakdi village in neighbouring Panvel Taluka for their alleged involvement in illegal betting during the ongoing IPL season, officials said here on Sunday.
Acting on a tip off, a team of Panvel Taluka police under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone III) Rashmi Nandedkar conducted a surprise raid late night raid on Friday and arrested the accused persons allegedly operating and participating in online cricket betting activities.
Police said the betting racket was being run through an online platform identified as '365 Lotus,' with bets being placed on IPL matches being played across the country.
