Mumbai, Sept. 18 -- An 11-foot-long python was rescued from the vicinity of a residential area at Kala Nagar in Bandra East here on Friday morning after it was found constricting a cat, which died of suffocation.

The reptile was spotted by a local resident, who immediately alerted snake rescuer Atul Kamble of Vapra Sanstha at around 0838 hours, officials said.

Following the alert, the matter was communicated to Forest Department Round Officer Deepak Dada Gaikwad as well as the Thane-Mumbai Range Control office.
