BD NarayankarBengaluru, Sept. 10 -- The 100-day celebration of the DK Shivakumar government was meant to be a report card. It turned out to be something more interesting: a quiet conversation between two versions of the Congress.

Siddaramaiah, the former Chief Minister, came to praise the government. He did that. But praise was not the whole message. Between the compliments were reminders - about drought, the five guarantees and, above all, social justice.

Shivakumar's response was substantial. His speech spoke of a USD 3 trillion Karnataka, jobs, investment, infrastructure, technology and regional development. It also spoke at length about the guarantees and programmes for disadvantaged sections.
