Bengaluru, May 10 -- Karnataka Leader of the Opposition R Ashoka on Sunday alleged that more than 10 lakh Bangladeshis were illegally residing in Karnataka and accused the ruling Congress government of protecting them for "vote-bank politics."Addressing reporters here, Ashoka launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister G Parameshwara, alleging that the state government had deliberately ignored illegal infiltration activities for electoral gains.

"Congress leaders want Bangladeshi infiltrators for votes. The government has shut its eyes to illegal settlement activities in Karnataka," he alleged.
