New Delhi, June 14 -- Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday urged residents to stop throwing waste into the Yamuna, including religious offerings, flowers, garlands, idols, plastic, and other materials, to keep the river pollution-free.

She said, "If people continue to pollute the Yamuna, the purpose of any form of worship cannot truly be fulfilled." Gupta made this appeal as she participated in a massive cleaning drive in the Capital as part of the Yamuna Riverbank Cleanliness Campaign 2026.

The Chief Minister led the cleaning activity from Geeta Colony ghat while other Delhi government officials and public took part in the activity across 28 ghats and riverbank locations in the city, including Chilla Village Ghat, Nizamuddin Ghat, ...
