Kolkata, July 17 -- Devotion and festivity filled the streets of south Kolkata on Thursday as Utkala, the Odia community from the city, launched its annual Rath Yatra celebrations with a grand chariot procession that drew devotees from across the city.

The Odisha Festival will be inaugurated at Northern Park by the Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, on Friday. The programme will also include the presentation of the Utkala Samman to Prof. P. K. Mishra, followed by Kathak and Odissi dance performances.

The procession began at the temple in Kidderpore and proceeded to Northern Park in Bhawanipur, where the idols of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra will remain until July 23. The deities will return to the temple during the Bahu...
