Kolkata, May 18 -- More than a decade after she led the high-profile investigation into the Park Street gangrape case, senior IPS officer Damayanti Sen once again returned to the centre of a major probe into crimes against women in West Bengal on Monday.

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari during the day announced the formation of a special committee to investigate incidents of alleged atrocities against women and children across the state, ranging from Sandeshkhali to Kasba and Bogtui.

The panel will be headed by retired Calcutta High Court judge Justice Sampati Chatterjee, with Damayanti Sen playing a key investigative role.
