Srinagar, May 18 -- In a remarkable step towards environmental stewardship, a government school in J&K's Bandipora district on Monday launched a unique "Sapling Adoption Initiative" under which every student pledged to nurture and protect a plant throughout his or her school life.
As part of the programme, 43 students of Class 6 of PM SHRI Government Secondary School Laharwalpora planted 43 saplings in the presence of noted scientists Prof Syed Naseem and Prof Bilal Ahmad Bhat, both senior faculty members of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir.
The initiative was conceived by Head of Institution Javaid Jawad with active participation from teachers and students.
