Khammam, May 24 -- Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Sunday announced that the state government will launch the "Indiramma Bheema" insurance scheme across Telangana from June 2 as a State Formation Day gift to the people.

Addressing a public meeting, Bhatti said the scheme would provide Rs 5 lakh insurance coverage to nearly 1.15 crore families in the state in the event of the death of the head of the family due to an accident.

He stated that the Congress government was committed to fulfilling all promises made during the elections and delivering welfare benefits directly to the poor.
