Lucknow, Aug. 28 -- Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday stated that Raksha Bandhan is not merely a festival of tying a protective thread (Raksha Sutra), but it is a symbol of reverence, trust, respect, self-respect, and self-reliance.
"Beyond strengthening familial and societal bonds, this festival is linked to the economic self-reliance of local artisans and craftspeople. Many of the 'rakhis' tied to me by daughters today were handmade by them. Approximately 15 crore 'rakhis' are being tied across the state. Behind each rakhi lies the economic activity of an artisan, craftsperson, shopkeeper, or the market itself.
