New Delhi, July 21 -- Four Indian nationals were killed and another was critically injured after a cargo ship departing Ukraine's Black Sea port of Odesa was struck by missiles, India's foreign ministry said today, condemning attacks on commercial shipping and civilian crews as "deplorable".

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said the Guinea-Bissau-flagged 'MV Golden Leo' came under attack on the evening of July 19 while sailing from Odesa with 17 crew members on board, including five Indians.

"As per information available, four Indian nationals have tragically lost their lives, while one is hospitalised in a critical condition," the ministry said in a statement.
