Hyderabad, March 30 -- The Telangana government's flagship literacy initiative, 'Amma Ku Aksharamala', is witnessing an overwhelming response, significantly advancing women's empowerment across the state.
Implemented through the Self-Help Group (SHG) network, the programme aims to provide a second chance at education for middle-aged and elderly women who missed formal schooling. So far, over 7.01 lakh women have enrolled, of whom more than 6.31 lakh appeared for the recent literacy examination-reflecting nearly 90 per cent participation.
