Dhaka, July 6 -- A worker was killed in a workplace accident while on duty at City Paper and Board Mill in the Purbo Delpara area of Fatullah in Narayanganj on early Monday.

The deceased was identified as Jahangir Hossen, 25, son of Md Kasim Uddin of Cheparajhar area under Atwari upazila in Panchagarh district.

Jahangir had been living with his wife and one child in a rented house owned by Liaquat Ali in Purbo Delpara under Fatullah area. He had been working as a dryer operator at the paper mill for the past eight years.

According to police, Jahangir was on duty from 8 pm Sunday to 8 am Monday. At around 12:30 am, the paper being processed in the machine tore, causing the machine to stop.
