Dhaka, Sept. 6 -- A housewife was shot by unidentified assailants who opened fire through the window of her home while she was watching television in the capital's Darus Salam area on Saturday night.

The victim was identified as Jesmin Begum, 38, wife of Abdul Mannan of Matbor Bari Masjid Goli of the area.

Jesmin's son Yasin said his mother was watching television with the window of their home open when unidentified assailants fired through it around 8:30pm before fleeing.

The bullet struck her right hand, causing serious injuries, and she fell onto the floor, he said.
