Chandpur, Sept. 20 -- A woman was killed and four others were injured when a truck collided head-on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Chandpur on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Mahinur Begum, 38, wife of Nasir Tapadar of Tarpurchandi village under Tarpurchandi Union in Sadar upazila.

Eyewitnesses said the auto-rickshaw was travelling from Bakila in Hajiganj towards Chandpur. As its driver tried to overtake another auto-rickshaw, it collided head-on with a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction around 2:30pm in the Debpur area of the Chandpur-Cumilla regional highway.

As a result, the auto-rickshaw overturned into a roadside ditch, leaving Mahinur dead on the spot.
