Dhaka, Sept. 15 -- An unidentified man died after being hit by a train near the Kuril Bishwa Road railway tracks in the capital on Tuesday evening.

Railway Police Constable Md Sajbir said the man, aged around 40, sustained critical injuries after being struck by a train while crossing the tracks at around 5:30pm.

After being informed, police rescued him and initially took him to Kurmitola Hospital. As his condition deteriorated, he was transferred to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors declared him dead.

Efforts are underway to establish the deceased's identity.
