UNITED NATIONS, Aug. 13 -- General Antonio Guterres on Wednesday called for dialogue and negotiations to achieve a comprehensive and durable settlement of the conflicts in the Gulf and the Red Sea.

Farhan Haq, the UN deputy spokesman, stated that the Secretary-General is closely monitoring developments in the Middle East, specifically the situations in and around the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea. Guterres remains convinced that a lasting resolution can only be reached through diplomatic engagement.
