Kushtia, June 21 -- A truck driver and his helper were killed after a stone-laden truck fell into a roadside ditch in Kushtia Sadar upazila on Sunday morning.

The deceased were identified as truck driver Anichur Rahman Anis hailed from Sadar upazila in Faridpur district and his assistant, Ratan.

Sheikh Sekendar Ali, Officer-in-Charge of Kushtia Chourhas Highway Police Station said the truck was carrying stones from Sonamasjid in Chapainawabganj to Faridpur.

The vehicle lost control after reaching Kushtia Bypass Road around 8:30 am and plunged into a roadside ditch, he said, adding that the truck caught fire after the crash.
