Magura, May 19 -- Two minor children drowned in a water-filled ditch at Baliadanga village in Sadar upazila of Magura on Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Nayeem, 9, son of Jamal Hossain, and Nusrat, 7, daughter of Liton Hossain of the village. The victims are cousin and aunt in relations.

Officer-in-Charge of Magura Sadar Police Station Abdullah Al Mamun said the two children were playing in rainwater near their houses in the morning.

Family members launched a search for them after they were found nowhere.

Noticing their sandals by the ditch, they searched the water body on suspicion and rescued the two children.
