, March 9 -- The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-2) on Sunday arrested two individuals with locally made weapons.

The arrests were made in connection with the attack on former student coordinator Ibrahim Khalil and ongoing extortion activities in the Mayurvila area under Mohammadpur Police Station.

The arrestees, top militants Ripon alias Kaua Ripon (28) and Mintu Ahmed alias Pappu (24), were taken into custody from Mohammadpur. Authorities recovered a machete, two daggers, and a ramda (curved knife) from them.

RAB said the attack on Khalil, 29, occurred on February 22 when he was seriously injured with a sharp samurai sword by associates of top militant Sohel alias Garage Sohel, who had earlier been arrested along with weapons on March 1....
