ISTANBUL, Aug. 7 -- Turkish gendarmerie forces detained 104 people suspected of being members or supporters of the Islamic State (IS) in coordinated operations across the country on Friday, the Interior Ministry said.

The operations were carried out simultaneously in 30 provinces by provincial gendarmerie commands in coordination with the Gendarmerie General Command's Counter-Terrorism Department and local prosecutors, the ministry said in a social media statement.

The suspects are accused of providing financial support to IS through individuals affiliated with the group and purported aid organizations, spreading its propaganda on social media and being members of the organization, the statement said.
