ANKARA, Sept. 25 -- Turkish security forces have detained 83 suspects across 28 provinces in a nationwide operation targeting the Islamic State (IS) terror group, the Interior Ministry said Friday.

The raids were carried out by provincial gendarmerie commands in coordination with the Gendarmerie General Command's Counter-Terrorism Department and local chief public prosecutor's offices.

According to the ministry, those detained include alleged members of IS, individuals accused of providing financial support to the organization through affiliated contacts and purported aid organizations, and people spreading propaganda for the group via social media platforms.
