Chapainawabganj, Aug. 6 -- A trolley driver was killed after his vehicle was hit by a train while crossing rail track in Nachol upazila of Chapainawabganj on Thursday morning.

The deceased was identified as Abul Kalam Azad, 35, son of Mohibur Rahman of Bandra village in the upazila.

According to police and locals, Azad was returning home from Deopara with a consignment of goats on his trolley.

The Khulna-bound Mahananda Express struck the trolley at the Deopara level crossing near Nachol Railway Station around 6:20am, leaving him dead on the spot, said Officer-in-Charge of Nachol Police Station Sukomal Chandra Debnath.

He said the Railway Police was carrying out the required legal procedures.
