, June 1 -- year-old tourist drowned in the Piyain River in Jaflong area of Sylhet on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Imtiaz Hossain Rahi, son of Jashim Uddin of Hathazari upazila in Chattogram.

Md Moniruzzaman, Officer-in-Charge of Gowainghat Police Station, said Rahi along with his friends came to Jaflong during Eid vacation.

Later, he along with his friends went to the Piyain River for swimming.

When he reached at Nazimnagar ghat area he washed away and sank in the river.

On information, divers from local Fire Service and Civil Defence rushed to the spot and recovered the body of Rahi after one and half an hour of frantic efforts.
