, Sept. 21 -- President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday stressed the need for greater emphasis on technical and technology-based education as these could reduce unemployment in the country.

His observation came when a delegation led by Jagannath University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Rais Uddin paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban on Monday afternoon.

During the meeting, the president inquired about the progress of the construction of the university's second campus and stressed the need to further improve the quality of education at the university.

The VC briefed the president on the overall academic activities of Jagannath University.
