Dhaka, May 9 -- Suvendu Adhikari on Saturday took oath as the Chief Minister of West Bengal after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured victory in the state assembly election, marking its first-ever win in the eastern state's turbulent electoral history that has seen shifts from Communist rule to the 15-year tenure of Mamata Banerjee.
Adhikari, who once served as a close aide to Banerjee during her tenure as Chief Minister while leading the All India Trinamool Congress government, now occupies the same top post he once worked under her leadership.
