Dhaka, Aug. 15 -- A suspected thief died after falling from the third-floor cornice of a house while allegedly attempting to steal in the capital's Muradpur area on Saturday morning.

The deceased was identified as Md Selim, 37, a resident of Kadamtali area in Cumilla. He was the son of late Halim Mia and lived with his foster parents Anwar Mia and Rabeya at a house in North Muradpur.

Kabir Hossain, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Kadamtali Police Station, said they recovered Selim's blood-covered body from the paved road in front of a house in Muradpur around 9 am.

Police later sent the body to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy after completing the necessary legal procedures.
