Dhaka, Sept. 1 -- Prime Minister's Adviser on Information and Broadcasting Dr Zahed Ur Rahman on Tuesday said simply speaking in favour of or supporting deposed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina cannot be treated as a criminal offence unless a law criminalises such conduct.

"No one can be declared a criminal merely because allegations have been brought against them. Action must be taken on the basis of law," he said while responding to questions from reporters at a press briefing at the Secretariat on the progress of various government activities.
