Sufiur elected to UN rights body's Advisory Committee
Dhaka, Oct. 7 -- The UN Human Rights Council has elected former Bangladeshi diplomat Mohammad Sufiur Rahman to its Advisory Committee as a member representing the Asia-Pacific States.
Sufiur served as Bangladesh's Permanent Representative to the UN Offices in Geneva and Ambassador to Switzerland.
He also served as Bangladesh's High Commissioner to Australia, Sri Lanka and Ambassador to Myanmar.
A career foreign service officer from the 9th batch of the Bangladesh Civil Service (Foreign Affairs cadre), Sufiur held various positions at the Foreign Ministry headquarters and Bangladesh missions in New Delhi, Geneva and Islamabad.
