, Nov. 6 -- For decades, people have been advised to choose low-fat or fat-free dairy products to protect heart health and control body weight. However, growing scientific evidence suggests that full-fat dairy may not pose the health risks traditionally associated with it.

A new Canadian study led by University of Toronto professor Harvey Anderson has added to this evidence, finding that consuming three servings of full-fat dairy daily for 12 weeks did not cause harmful changes in body weight, body composition, energy metabolism or blood cholesterol levels.

The findings also showed that participants who consumed more dairy experienced improvements in blood pressure and obtained higher amounts of several essential nutrients.
