, Sept. 26 -- Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said Friday that Iran has sent the United States a proposal that could allow the Strait of Hormuz to reopen within seven days if certain conditions are fulfilled.

Speaking to reporters at the U.N. headquarters in New York, Araghchi said Iran had delivered a "concrete seven-day plan" to Washington through Qatar.

He said the seven-day period would begin once the United States agrees to the proposal.
