Standing committee calls for stronger action to curb drugs, improve law and order
Dhaka, Aug. 13 -- The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Home Ministry on Thursday called for stronger and coordinated efforts to eliminate drugs, curb crime and further improve the country's law and order situation and public security.
The call came at the first meeting of the committee of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad, held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with committee chairman Zainul Abedin, MP, in the chair.
The meeting identified drugs and gambling as among the country's major problems and stressed effective measures to eliminate them. It also called for increased public awareness and a more effective and coordinated role by all concerned in combating drugs, says a press release .
