Dhaka, May 6 -- A local leader of Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal was shot in one of the legs allegedly by rivals in the Kadamtali area of the capital on Wednesday.

The injured was identified as Md Rony, 28, general secretary of Dhaka Match unit of Sramik Dal under ward No. 59 of Dhaka South City Corporation and son of Billal Hossain of Barakul Patwari village in Chandpur's Hajiganj upazila. He used to live at Kadamtali with his family.

The incident took place around 5:30pm at the New Colony Rail Line Bazar when a group of miscreants opened fire on him over establishing dominance in the locality, said his cousin Md Hasan.
