Sangsad Bhababn, July 7 -- Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad on Tuesday reminded lawmakers to refrain from using mobile phones during parliamentary proceedings, saying the practice is against the rules and undermines the dignity of the House.

He made the remarks after noticing a lawmaker using a mobile phone openly during the sitting.

Addressing the MP, the Speaker said, "Some members use mobile phones discreetly, but you are using it quite openly. Please do not use a mobile phone in the House."

He stressed that the restriction applies equally to all members and urged them to uphold the dignity and decorum of Parliament.
