, Nov. 5 -- Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram, on Thursday invited US companies to explore oil and gas fields in Bangladesh's coastal areas and the Bay of Bengal to help address the country's energy crisis.

He made the invitation while addressing the 30th US Trade Show organised by the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham) at Hotel InterContinental in the city as the chief guest, according to a press release from Parliament Secretariat.

The Speaker said the United States is Bangladesh's single largest export destination.
