, July 6 -- Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad returned on Sunday night after attending the state funeral of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in Tehran.

The Speaker arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 11:00pm following his visit to the Iranian capital.

He had left Dhaka for Tehran on July 2 to represent Bangladesh at the state funeral, where he paid tribute on behalf of the government and the people of Bangladesh.

During the solemn ceremony held at Tehran's Grand Mosalla, the Speaker offered prayers for the late Iranian leader and met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and other senior leaders.
